Google Launches AI Professional Certificate With Free Access for Eligible U.S. Small Businesses

Google has introduced a new Google AI Professional Certificate, expanding its AI training ecosystem with a hands-on, applied learning program designed for professionals and small businesses.

The certificate includes seven self-paced modules and provides three months of free access to Google AI Pro. Eligible U.S. small and medium-sized businesses can enroll in the full program at no cost.

The certificate is available through platforms including Coursera, Google Skills, and Udemy. In the U.S. and Canada, standard pricing is $49 per month via subscription.

What The Google AI Professional Certificate Includes

The program is structured around seven modules, each taking approximately one hour to complete. It is designed for beginners and does not require prior AI experience.

Participants complete more than 20 hands-on activities focused on real-world use cases.

These include:

1. Content Creation & Presentations
   Learners create marketing materials, slide decks, and business communications using AI-powered tools.

2. Data Analysis & Research
   The course covers structured data interpretation, research workflows, and AI-assisted reporting.

3. Infographic & Visual Content Development
   Participants build AI-assisted visuals and business graphics.

4. App Creation Without Coding
   Users learn to develop simple applications without writing code, often referred to as “vibe coding.”

Upon completing all modules, learners receive an official Google certificate. This credential can be added to LinkedIn profiles and shared with employers as proof of applied AI skills.

Free Access For Eligible U.S. Small Businesses

Google is offering full program access at no cost to eligible U.S.-registered small and medium-sized businesses with 500 or fewer employees.

To qualify, businesses must:

• Be officially registered in the United States

• Provide an Employer Identification Number (EIN)

• Apply through a dedicated verification process on Coursera

According to Coursera, verification typically takes five to seven business days.

Eligible businesses also receive three months of free Google Workspace Business Standard access (for new Workspace customers, up to 300 seats).

Google is working in collaboration with organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and America’s Small Business Development Centers to expand program distribution.

Focus On Applied AI, Not Just Theory

Unlike introductory AI programs, the AI Professional Certificate emphasizes applied use cases and practical workflows.

The curriculum centers around tools within Google’s AI ecosystem, including:

• Gemini

• NotebookLM

• Google AI Studio

This makes the certification particularly relevant for professionals already using Google’s AI tools in marketing, operations, content production, and analytics.

Earlier in May 2025, Google also launched a Generative AI Leader certification for Google Cloud users. That program targeted non-technical business leaders and required a $99 exam fee. In contrast, the new AI Professional Certificate does not include a separate exam fee.
